Mary Baker Eddy

Mary Baker Eddy is the author of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. In this book, first published in 1875, Mrs. Eddy presents Christian Science as a discovery of the divine laws governing life, health, and existence. Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures is carefully organized, requiring much dedication and revision by Mrs. Eddy, to present the seven synonymous terms (Mind, Spirit, Soul, Principle, Life Truth, Love) for God, Science, and the dynamic calculus (Word, Christ, Christianity, Science) that impel the eternal operation of Being, or Principle, Love.

John W. Doorly

John W. Doorly was the pivotal figure in the development of Christian Science thought, particularly known for his innovative approach to understanding the Science of Being. He emphasized the seven synonymous terms for God—Mind, Spirit, Soul, Principle, Life, Truth, and Love and the calculus of the Word, Christ, Christianity and Science as foundational to grasping the divine nature. Doorly introduced a systematic framework, often referred to as the “matrix,” to elucidate the relationships between these synonyms and their manifestations in human experience.
